Trombone
The trombone is a brass wind instrument. It is a singular variation of the trumpet. It was possibly invented in 1450 in the province of Burgundy. Initially the trombone was introduced into military bands and during the 16th century was used in symphonic orchestras. In its extensive history the trombone underwent many modifications to its form. Today, it consists of a tube with a standard length and three more tubes fitted with keys.
Its pitch range is very rich, without however altering tonicity.
Many classical composers used the trombone in orchestras, like Igor Stravinsky, Wagner, Poulenc, et.al.
The study of the trombone is recognised by the State and affords its students a Certificate and Diploma. Duration of tuition is 7 years for the Certificate and the Diploma or 9 years for the Diploma, if a Certificate is previously obtained.
