Advanced Music Theory & Composition
Vocal Studies: For admission into the class of Vocal Studies the student must sit preliminary examinations. The student is examined on 1st Mandatory Harmony and the 4th Solfege and, if successful, is admitted to the first year of Vocal Studies, and receives a Certificate after two years. It should be noted that in order to be awarded a certificate the student must hold a High School Diploma.
Harmony: For admission into the class of Special Harmony the student must sit preliminary examinations. If the examination is on 3rd Theory and 3rd Solfege, the student is admitted to the first year of Special Harmony and is awarded a Certificate of Special Harmony after completing three years of studies. If the examination is on 1st Mandatory Harmony and the 4th Solfege, the student is admitted into the second year of Special Harmony and is awarded the Certificate after two years.
Wind Instruments’ Instrumentation: For acceptance into the class of Wind Instruments’ Organisation the student must sit preliminary examinations. Tuition is two years and at the conclusion of studies the student is awarded a Certificate in Wind Instrumentation.
Counterpoint: To enrol in the class of Counterpoint the student must hold a Certificate in Harmony with a minimum acceptable grade of “Very Good”. Tuition is two years and at the conclusion of studies the student is awarded a Certificate in Counterpoint.
Fugue: To enrol in the class of Fugue the student must hold a Certificate in Counterpoint with the minimum acceptable grade of “Very Good”. Tuition is two years and at the conclusion of studies the student is awarded a Certificate in Fugue.
Composition: To enrol in the class of Composition the student must hold a Certificate in Harmony with a minimum acceptable grade of “Very Good”. Tuition is two years and at the conclusion of studies the student is awarded a Certificate in Counterpoint.
