… The ensemble was created in 2009 and in May 2009 presented at the Theatre under the Bridge (“Theatro kato apo ti Gefira”) the play “The Ox on the Roof and other everyday stories” based on the namesake work by Darius Milhaud, with the simultaneous screening of black and white short films by Georges Melies
(also presented at the premiere of the International Festival of children’s cinema of Olympia, November 2009, and the Municipality of Palaio Psychiko Benetatou Cultural Centre, February 2010);
….Experimented with 1930-1940s Jazz and the music of Bill Evans, using original sheet music by the composers, aiming at representation rather than improvisation (Municipality of Nikaia Jazz & Rock Music Festival, October 2010, and International Day of Music, June 2011);
… Was based on pre-existing and frequently long-term collaborations… The aim was to create a group which would draw from the sensitivities and abilities of each member in alternating roles and a dynamic shaped by each moment;
…the mixing and –why not?- contrasting of natural timbres with electric, amplified sound;
… the interplay between music, word and image;
… works which use classical tradition as a starting point but extend into more modern sounds;
These are the main themes which concern us, and around which the work moves.
